Location , Location, Location at this price? unheard of! his was the second time I've stayed at the Buchan Hotel. Really if you want a place in the heart of the city that is affordable you cannot be the location or the price of this hotel. Nestled in the midst of the west end among residential homes and apartments you are just a hop skip and a jump from Stanley Park. Just off Denman Street transportation to the downtown shopping district is a quick bus ride right to the heart of it. Or stroll downtown as you explore the wonderful Robson street shops. How do they do it? The Hotel itself, though clean and well present, leaves frills at the door. You may share a bathroom with the other guests. You won't have a newspaper brought to your door -though there is one or two to read in the comfortable library. You won't have lush carpets or fancy fixtures, but you will have a comfortable bed with clean linen. Think old English Inn. The staff are very cheerful and professional. I had booked the single room with shared bath and they upgraded me to one with a bath without being asked, I was thrilled! The location is super quiet even though it's downtown it's situation is such that the tree lined streets block the city noise and you wake to chirping birds instead. If you find yourself missing the luxury a morning walk in Stanley Park will soon erase those thoughts from your head.

The unit was well-kept and functional.
Well priced venue, magnificent location close enough to Vancouver city center and Stanley Park, and shops, restaurants and Stanley Park, appreciated our stay. The staff were genuinely helpful, provided us with good services.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Buchan Hotel which was very centrally located; in a peaceful neighborhood, just a short walk to Stanley Park, close to frequent bus service( including the Express Bus from the ferries at Horseshoe Bay) and in a walkable distance to Robson and downtown vanocuver shopping, close to great restaraunts. The Buchan Hotel is a family friendly older hotel with high ceilings and wide hallways, Our room had a bath and a queen sized bed with good quality bedding. The room itself was sparcely decorated but very clean and smoke free. We particularly enjoyed the big soft bath towels refreshed each day. We definately will make an effort to stay there again when going to the big city. .
Being an older building some noise filtered from the hallway and adjoining rooms

I love the price as well as the location - close to the beach & walking distance to everything - stanley park as well. This is the second time I stayed at the hotel and I will be returning in the summer., It would be nice if the rates were as low in the summer as I paid in April.
Other tenants coming into the building late & it was noisy..someone kept slamming a door in 1 am & loud talking. also I felt cold in my room and there was no hot water in the room sink or the shower in the hallway.

I had a wonderful stay at the Buchan Hotel! The location was perfect - close to the waterfront, Stanley Park, and a bustling street filled with restaurants. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. Although the room didn't have a bathroom, it wasn't a problem for a one-night stay. I highly recommend this hotel for its great value and excellent location.

Location: the hotel was so close to Denman and Robson Street, the activities in North Vancouver and restaurants on Robson Street. It also was in the common area.

Fantastic location near Sunset Beach and Stanley Park. Close proximity to great restaurants and shops. Easy walking distance to various attractions. Clean rooms and impeccable shared bathrooms.
Noisy in-room experience due to thin walls. Bed was too firm for my liking.

Location (close to Coal Harbour and the entrance to Stanley Park); staff were friendly and courteous.
Tired decor and furnishings in lounge and in our room (No.41). Damaged wallpaper and plaster in our room had merely been painted over. There was no lift and no wi-fi at all and there were no room telephones - to be fair none were advertised. The electric sockets were almost impossible to access and were on the rickety side. A large party of young school kids were left to run around, apparently unsupervised, until after 10pm on the night of our arrival. Admittedly we had just had a cross Atlantic flight from Glasgow and were exhausted BUT ... ! A huge investment is required in this hotel...if there is none I suggest that the word 'hostel' should replace 'hotel' in the title.with prices to match.
